According to the Central Zoo Authority of India, there are currently 157 recognized zoos throughout India. The Central Zoo Authority of India (CZA) is the Governing Authority of all Zoological Parks in India and is an associate member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA).
Karnataka has the highest 15 recognised zoos and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Delhi, Goas, Ladakh, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura has the lowest one zoo each.
